As the world counted down to midnight on 31 December 1999, the looming fear of the Y2K bug collided with a generation determined to dance into the new millennium. The late 90s rave scene was still fuelled by underground warehouse parties, pirate radio, and a rebellious DIY ethos. This artwork captures the atmosphere of the era: an alien DJ spins vinyl at the stroke of midnight, symbolising the cosmic uncertainty of the Y2K moment and the otherworldly energy of rave culture. The flyer-style design — complete with secret location details, pirate radio frequencies, and “Strictly No Attitude” rules — reflects the authentic rave promotion style of the time. For ravers, the “end of the world” wasn’t a fear, but an excuse for the ultimate all-night party, where unity, basslines, and glowsticks lit the way into the year 2000.
